Introduction
User experience design mainly concerns the overall experience that shapes the experience of a digital product to a user. Digital products in this case include websites and applications and experience refers to making them more user-friendly, enjoyable and pleasurable to use.
During my childhood, I used to play with toys similar to the images shared in the cover photo. What design features can you derive from such a product that satisfied your experience when playing with it?
User Research
At its core, UX design seeks to understand user's needs, behaviors, and preferences to create products and interfaces that meet their expectations. The process begins with understanding the target audience and can be achieved by gathering insights about the intended users of the product. This can be through conducting surveys, interviews, usability test behaviors and pain points.
Analysis and Information Architecture
The next step as a UX designer is conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of the gathered data to extract insightful pointers to consider when organizing the content and structure of your products. This will involve creating a site map and defining navigation pathways. A sitemap is a guide that outlines the main pages of a digital product and their relationship to each other.

Wireframing and prototyping
With this information at hand, create low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the design concepts of the product. Think of low-fidelity wireframes as a blueprint for your final product similar to a building plan that architects draw of a house.

Hi-fidelity designs
Wireframes are a good representation of the products but the final product has to align with your brand identity hence creating a visual design that incorporates color schemes, typography and graphics to create an aesthetically pleasing interface is the next step in the UX design journey.

Usability Testing
At this point, you have a visually appealing design for your product and this calls for conducting usability testing of the prototype with real users. This is crucial since it's during this process that you identify usability issues and refine your design based on their feedback interactively.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the key UX design principles are to prioritize functionality and ease of use of the product to users, maintain a uniform design language throughout the product, ensure the product is accessible to all users and provide a feedback channel with your users.
